NEXTEV TCR driver Oliver Turvey says he is happy with his performance during the Formula E 2015/2016 season so far, especially when compared to his team-mate and reigning champion Nelson Piquet Jr.
The team has struggle for pace throughout the second Formula E season so far and Turvey admits his first full campaign in the series has been challenging.
But he has been encouraged by his speed and performance so far and is currently 14th in the drivers’ standings, two places and six points ahead of team-mate Piquet.
“My first full season has been a challenge with the package we have in the team,” he told Grand Prix Times.
“I have been satisfied with my performance over the season, certainly against Nelson [Piquet Jr].
“Having last year’s champion as my team-mate has been a good benchmark and I have been pleased with my performance against him, being able to out-qualify him in quite a few races and score more points.
“I’m satisfied with what I have been able to get out of the package we have. Obviously it’s frustrating not to be racing at the front and for wins but I feel I have done everything I can.”
When asked what his expectations are for this weekend’s double-header season finale in London, he replied: “Every weekend we have seen this year has been tough for us.
“Hopefully the weather can make some interesting qualifying and races, giving us different strategies and options.
“If it rains that could mix things up a bit. It should give us the chance maybe to benefit. Hopefully we can get our best result of the year, that would be nice, to finish on a high.”
