British driver Alex Brundle has been confirmed at G-Drive Racing in LMP1 for the remainder of the 2016 FIA World Endurance Championship season.

Nathanael Berthon parted ways with the team ahead of this year’s Le Mans 24 Hours, with former Formula 1 driver Will Stevens taking his place.

However, with Stevens having a full-time drive with Manor, a seat has become available on the No.26 car.

Brundle has been announced as car’s third driver, joining Roman Rusinov and Rene Rast for the next WEC round at the Nurburgring.

He will race with the Jota Sport-run outfit in the WEC alongside his European Le Mans Series commitments in LMP3 with United Autosport.

“I’m delighted to be driving for G-Drive Racing in the final six races of the FIA WEC, especially with the incredibly strong package that the team has put together for this season,” he said.

“The Nurburgring event can’t come soon enough and it’s fantastic to be re-joining this global series, representing my long term sponsors Richard Mille.

“It will be a real privilege to work with the team, who have proven it to be one of the best endurance outfits worldwide.

“With the massive experience of Rene and the pace of Roman I think we will make a potent combination, to deliver strong results for the remainder of the season.”
