Formula 1’s tyre supplier Pirelli has announced the compounds it has nominated for September’s Singapore Grand Prix.
2016 regulation changes mean nominations for fly-away rounds have to be made 14 weeks in advance, compared to the eight-week deadline for European races.
Singapore’s Marina Bay Street Circuit will see the new purple-marked ultra-soft, the super-soft and soft compounds used over the race weekend.
The mandatory tyres available for the race are one set of softs and one set of super-softs. The ultra-soft tyre has been assigned for qualifying.
One set must be saved by each driver for Q3 of the softest nominated tyre. This will then be given back to Pirelli after the session.
Due to the rule changes for this season, teams are free to choose the remaining 10 sets of tyres, with 13 available in total.
It is the fourth time the ultra-soft compound has been confirmed for a race so far in 2016, after Monaco, Canada and Austria.
