Jean-Eric Vergne will start the Berlin ePrix from pole position after beating Sebastien Buemi by 0.016 seconds during the Super Pole round.

The Virgin Racing driver put in a 57.811 second laptime in the final session to secure first place on the grid, with Buemi putting his Renault e.Dams second.

Daniel Abt was third and both Mahindra cars made it through to the pole position battle, with Bruno Senna and Nick Heidfeld fourth and fifth.

Sam Bird just missed out on making it through to the Super Pole stage and had to settle for sixth, ahead of the improved NEXTEV car of Nelson Piquet Jr.

His team-mate Oliver Turvey will start in ninth, with Nicolas Prost between them. Championship leader Lucas di Grassi made a mistake on his lap and had to watch himself tumble down to 10th.

Dragon Racing’s Loic Duval and Jerome d’Ambrosio were 11th and 12th, with the Andretti cars of Simona de Silvestro and Robin Frijns 13th and 16th, with the latter losing time after clipping the wall.

The Venturi duo of Mike Conway and Stephane Sarrazin separate the two Andrettis, while the final row is made up of Team Aguri’s Rene Rast, on his debut, and Ma Qing Hua.
