Venturi's Mike Conway led the way during second practice for the Formula E Paris ePrix on Saturday as he topped the times by just 0.010s to second-placed DS Virgin racer Jean-Eric Vergne.
The Britain's best lap of 1m01.386 was enough to see him finish quickest, a second up on Sebastien Buemi's time-topping lap from first practice.
The second DS Virgin car of Sam Bird had led the way for much of the session before he damaged his car when he touched the wall, forcing him to retire to the pits with damaged left-rear suspension.
Bird, who finished third overall, wasn't the only driver to make contact. Stephane Sarrazin lost the rear of his Venturi when he braked for turn eight, firmly planting the front-wing in the TechPro, before managing to recover to the pits.
Lucas di Grassi finished ahead of Sarrazin in fourth and fifth respectively, whilst main title rival Buemi was only 13th after failing to set a full-power lap.
Bruno Senna was sixth ahead of Aguri's Antonio Felix da Costa and Nico Prost, whilst Daniel Abt and Loic Duval completed the top ten.
