Theodore Racing has confirmed its return to the IndyCar Series, in partnership with Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing for three races, beginning with the Grand Prix of Long Beach.
The iconic outfit entered or sponsored teams and drivers in IndyCar between 1977 and 1984, as well as competing in Formula One between 1976 and 1983 with legendary drivers such as Keke Rosberg and Patrick Tambay behind the wheel.
Following the Grand Prix of Long Beach Theodore Racing’s partnership with Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing will continue for the Grand Prix of Indianapolis and finally the 100th running of the Indianapolis 500.
During their three-race campaign Graham Rahal will display the Theodore Racing logo on his car and race overalls, with Spencer Pigot also set to receive similar support when he returns to the series for the two races at Indianapolis.
Theodore Racing’s return has been overseen by Teddy Yip Jr, who revived the Theodore name at the 2013 Macau Grand Prix.
“Indy car and American racing was extremely important to my father and in many ways it was his second home,” enthused Teddy Yip Jr, who is keen to make Theodore Racing a permanent name in the paddock once again.
“This year’s Indy 500 marks an important anniversary, and it’s fitting that the Theodore name is an active part of the celebrations.
“The IndyCar Series is certainly on the up and many European teams and drivers are now looking across the pond to the series.
“We’ve achieved some success in Asia and Europe so I’m very excited to be America’s latest import and work with such a professional team and talented driver.”
