Hamilton and Rosberg opt for different Chinese tyre allocations

Pirelli has revealed which tyre compounds each driver has chosen for the third round of the 2016 championship, the Chinese Grand Prix.

Current championship leader Nico Rosberg has opted for the same allocation of the white-marked medium tyre as Ferrari's Sebastian Vettel and Kimi Raikkonen, with all three opting for three sets, but after that their strategies differ, whilst Lewis Hamilton has gone for an entirely different strategy altogether.

Hamilton will take four sets of the medium, four of the yellow soft – one less than Rosberg but the same as Vettel and Raikkonen and finally five of the red-marked supersoft. The Ferrari duo have each opted for six of the supersoft.

Mercedes' drivers aren't alone in opting for different choices. Williams' Valtteri Bottas will have just one set of the medium tyre available to him, unlike Felipe Massa who has chosen two, with both opting for more of the supersoft which will likely see them opt for a two or three stop strategy.
