Pramac's Danilo Petrucci has undergone a successful operation on his right-hand following a test crash last week.
The Italian rider was one of ten to crash on the final day of the Phillip Island pre-season test last week. All escaped injury apart from Petrucci, who fractured his second, third and fourth metacarpal in his right-hand.
He was taken to the hospital on the Saturday morning after the test to be assessed, but his hand was too swollen to operate on and the doctors decided to wait until Monday to carry out the procedure.
The three-hour operation was declared a success, though Petrucci will require further checks and a lengthy rehabilitation process which will rule him out of the final test in Qatar in early-March and quite possibly the opening race later that month.
However Petrucci is keen to get back on his bike in time for the first race of the new season.
