Red Bull’s Helmut Marko has dismissed title challenges from the likes of reigning world champion Jenson Button, 2008 runner-up Felipe Massa and seven-time world champion Michael Schumacher.
Instead, he points the finger at Fernando Alonso and Lewis Hamilton. The Red Bull advisor revealed that the team fear these two drivers could snatch the title from either Sebastian Vettel of Mark Webber – both of which lead the championship.
“There are two people that we fear for this world title,” Marko told the APA news agency. “They are Fernando Alonso, because he is at his absolute peak, and Lewis Hamilton. What the others are doing bothers us not so much.”
Red Bull have dominated the 2010 season, securing six poles in six races. Webber has gone on to win two races, with Vettel on one, giving them half the wins so far.
“With the package that we have, we clearly have to be going for the championship – and in the coming years,” he continued.
“We have the people we need and the necessary tools to adapt to changes. We have had a winning car also in 2008 and 2009, so you can’t say that it’s a fluke when you’re building a top car in three consecutive years.”
