The IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship has made further revisions to the BoP (Balance of Performance) in the premier GTP class ahead of the next round in the series.

Before IMSA roars into life in the Sahlen’s Six Hours of The Glen on June 22-25, the LMDh machines that comprise the GTP class in the series have seen changes in weight, power output and energy usage as part of revised BoP ahead of the meeting.

Championship leaders Cadillac, fresh off of a podium finish in the centenary 24 Hours of Le Mans in WEC, have received a 7kg increase to their V-Series.R machines, with their maximum power going up, from 511 kW to 513 kW. Cadillac’s maximum stint energy has also gone up, by a value of 3 MJ.

Second in the IMSA standings behind Cadillac is Porsche and the 963 has been given a 5 kg weight increase ahead of Watkins Glen. The 963 will be granted an extra kW of power, going from 514 kW to 515 kW and will receive a boost in the form of an extra 2 MJ of maximum stint energy.

The Acura ARX-06 holds firm with a maximum power output of 520 kW, but the manufacturer that resides third in the standings does have a 4 kg weight increase. Acura has also received a maximum stint energy boost of 2 MJ. Finally, BMW joins Porsche in receiving a 7 kg weight increase, going from 1031 kg to 1038 kg with their M Hybrid V8. The M Hybrid V8 also has a 1 kW boost in power and, similar to Cadillac, receives a 3 MJ increase in maximum stint energy.

How will these changes to BoP in IMSA’s elite class affect the fight for victory in the Six Hours of the Glen next weekend?
