DAMS has confirmed the drivers racing for the French team in its maiden GP3 season in 2016, fielding three rookies.
The Ruaudin-based outfit has enjoyed plenty of success in the GP2 series, the next step up on the F1 feeder series ladder, winning 22 races, three drivers’ titles and two constructors’ crowns.
Two teams, Status Grand Prix and Carlin, have left the GP3 series for the 2016 season, with DAMS and Virtuosi Racing taking over the vacant entries.
DAMS’ switch to GP3 came at the expense of running in the Formula V8 3.5 championship. It will field three rookie drivers in the F1 support series this year.
Jake Hughes won the BRDC Formula 4 title in 2013, finished runner-up in Formula Renault 2.0 Alps last year and also placed sixth in the Eurocup category. The British driver will now step up to GP3 with DAMS.
He will be joined by Swiss racer Kevin Joerg, who claimed third in Eurocup Formula Renault 2.0 in 2015 and second in the NEC series. Santino Ferrucci will complete the line-up after racing in the FIA European Formula 3 Championship last season, where he finished 11th.
"We're eager to begin this new challenge in GP3," said DAMS co-founder Jean-Paul Driot. "It's an extremely competitive category full of talented young drivers, but Jake, Santino and Kevin have lots of potential.
"We're excited to work with all three and help them reach the top level of professional motorsport. As newcomers to GP3 we appreciate that there is a lot to learn but we do hope to be competitive from the get-go.
"DAMS has won in every category in which it has entered and we hope to replicate this success as quickly as possible. We believe the talent and speed of our three young guns will help us reach our goals."
