Jacques Villeneuve and the Venturi team have ended their relationship by "mutual consent" after just three rounds, meaning Mike Conway will take up the Canadian's seat for the Argentine round of the championship.
The Englishman, who will partner Stephane Sarrazin at Venturi, has previously tested Formula E machinery with the Dragon Racing outfit in 2014.
Speaking about the opportunity, he said: "Venturi is a top team in Formula E so it’s great to be able to join. The series is innovative and quite unique. It is quickly growing momentum and it’s attractive to a lot of manufacturers to showcase their technologies, so it’s exciting to be a part of the series."
Conway competed in the FIA World Endurance Championship during the 2015 season, taking one podium finish and finishing an overall sixth.
However the Briton has enjoyed success on street circuits, winning in Long Beach with IndyCar and Monaco with GP2, setting him up well for FE, of which all the races are based on tight city circuits.
