Ferrari ‘playing games’ by offering ’15 engines – Red Bull

Red Bull have accused Ferrari of ‘playing games’ by offering the team 2015-spec power units, whilst other customers will receive updated 2016-spec units.

The Milton Keynes team, which is without an engine supplier next season following a falling out with current supplier Renault, has demanded equality, but Ferrari have only agreed to supply year old engines.

More: Red Bull could face £330m penalty for pulling out of F1

Speaking to Auto Motor und Sport, Red Bull advisor Helmut Marko said it was a “cheeky” offer which has only pushed them further toward quitting the sport.

“They are playing games with us, but we don’t want to play along,” he said.

“Our consideration to pull out is fuelled more and more by this.

“It is a cheek to offer us 2015-spec engines when, at the same time, Sauber and Haas F1 are going to get 2016-spec engines.”

Ferrari chairman Sergio Marchionne recently admitted that he didn’t want to upset his own team by giving Red Bull a boost, which is likely the reason behind their decision to limit their supply.
