Lewis Hamilton won his fourth race in Canada after taking a controlled victory from start to finish, going unchallenged for the entire 70 laps.

The Mercedes driver never escaped the grasp of team-mate Nico Rosberg, but he managed to keep the gap steady, responding when necessary to ensure Rosberg never came close to snatching the win.

Valtteri Bottas secured Williams first podium of 2015, overhauling fellow Finn Kimi Raikkonen who eventually finished fourth. Raikkonen span at the hairpin which handed the place to Bottas.

Meanwhile the second Ferrari of Sebastian Vettel finished fifth, despite starting down in 18th and enduring a slow pit stop which cost him more than five seconds.

The race saw little action, with Romain Grosjean providing some drama when he cut across the Manor of Will Stevens too soon and punctured his left-rear. The Frenchman was handed a five-second penalty but remains tenth.

There were three retirements in Fernando Alonso and Jenson Button, bringing an already bad weekend for McLaren to a disappointing end, whilst the second Manor of Roberto Merhi stopped with a suspension fault.
