The VR46 Ducati MotoGP squad unleashed its 2023 weapon to the world on Monday morning, the machine sporting a predominantly black livery replacing its mainly grey scheme from 2022.
Riders Luca Marini and Marco Bezzecchi were on hand to present the paint scheme that will adorn their 2022-specification Ducati Desmosedici racers – on which the former posted the fastest overall time during the recent pre-season test at the Sepang International Circuit.
The livery features a similar design to the one it ran last season, though the main change is the black base colour as opposed to the light grey the Valentino Rossi-owned outfit campaigned in its first full-season as an out-and-out team, with title sponsor Mooney the main inspiration behind the colour scheme as it continues its relationship with the Italian operation.
This sees the Italian banking companies yellow and orange corporate colours once again feature on the VR46 bikes, with a stripe of each flashing down the flanks of the prototype.
The team is looking to make further progress this year following a promising maiden term in the premier class in 2022, with Bezzecchi having scored the teams maiden MotoGP rostrum result by finishing second in the Dutch TT at Assen, while Marini ended the year 12th in the riders standings having collected ten top-ten finishes across the 20 events.
This culminated in a strong run to eighth in the teams championship – ahead of the factory Honda squad – a result VR46 is keen to improve upon given its riders speed during the Sepang test.
