Tight corners, narrow track and blistering sunshine – those are the things you usually expect from Monaco. However, according to many weather systems, we can expect to swap the sunshine for rain – and plenty of it.
Forecasters expect rain to fall in short bursts throughout the entire race weekend.
Speaking on Monday, McLaren’s Lewis Hamilton insisted that the team’s forecasters have said the weather will be “extremely unpredictable” likely to consist of some “heavy rain.”
Hamilton has been the strongest critic of putting 24 F1 cars on a circuit as narrow as Monte Carlo, insisting that it could be “extremely dangerous,” however, Hamilton admits that he is expecting the race to be one of the most exciting for years.
“Even if it doesn’t rain on the Sunday, the possibility of heavily disrupted practice and qualifying sessions means that we’ll probably go into the race with a chance of one of the most exciting and unpredictable Monaco grands prix for many years.”
