Tech3 KTM CEO Guenther Steiner has continued to share his admiration for MotoGP as he adapts to team ownership.
Steiner led the acquisition of the Tech3 outfit at the end of the 2025 season, and despite not making too many alterations to the existing set-up from previous owner Herve Poncharal.
The Italian engineer has been a long-time admirer of MotoGP and shared his delight in becoming a part of the sport, though admitted he still has “a lot to learn” to lead Tech3 to future success.
“I’ve found one of the most exciting, if not the most exciting, sports in the world. When you get involved, it is always surprising how competitive this sport is – it’s incredible,” Steiner told MotoGP.com.
“I’m very happy right now, but I still have a lot to learn.
“The first six months are about getting to know the people and this world.
“I like coming to the races, but the guys can race without me; I’m focused on organising the team for the future, on what we’ll do from 2027 onwards.”
Steiner also said he thinks MotoGP riders “need to be different” in order to compete at their high level.
He suggested “it’s impossible” for non-riders to comprehend just exactly what MotoGP riders do in the races.
“You need to be different to do what they are doing, what these guys do on a motorcycle is incredible,” Steiner continued.
“We all think we know how to ride a motorbike, what they are doing is not riding a motorbike – it’s riding these machines at a very high level.
“You can see it on TV, imagine doing what they do – for me, as a human being, it’s impossible.
“You see how many risks they take, they fall down, get back up, run back and get back on the bike. You need to be of a special breed to do this.”
