Lance Stroll is set to make his GT World Challenge Europe debut at the season-opening round at Circuit Paul Ricard, marking a notable shift in discipline during an unexpected break in the Formula 1 calendar.
The opportunity arises after cancellations created a gap in April’s F1 schedule, allowing drivers to explore other forms of racing.
Fellow F1 driver Max Verstappen has been heavily involved in GT3 racing, noting he would like to enter the Nürburgring 24 Hours qualifiers in April.
Stroll will take advantage of that window by joining Comtoyou Racing in an Aston Martin Vantage GT3 entry for the opening round of the GT World Challenge Europe Endurance Cup.
He is set to share the car with former F1 driver Roberto Merhi and rising Aston Martin academy talent Mari Boya, placing him in a competitive Pro-class lineup within a 60-car grid.

While Stroll is best known for his F1 career with Aston Martin’s squad, this appearance highlights his continued connection to GT racing and broader endurance disciplines. GT3 machinery demands a different driving approach, making the outing a useful and relevant challenge.
The entry is part of a sizeable Aston Martin presence at the event, with multiple cars entered across the grid. Within that lineup, Stroll joins a mix of factory drivers, established names, and younger talent.
Although expected to be a one-off appearance, the outing provides an opportunity to gain experience in a different racing environment during a gap in the Formula 1 calendar.
