Double WRC Champion Kalle Rovanpera is set to return to the WRC next year in a Subaru BRZ All-Wheel Drive.
Having abandoned his Japanese single seater ambitions after minimal running due to ongoing health issues, the young Finn is returning to the sport he loves.
With no space at the Toyota Gazoo Racing ‘inn’, and with Toyota owning 20% of Subaru, the two Japanese motor giants, who share technology, have come up with a plan to accommodate TGR’s star.

The Subaru BRZ is a clone of the Toyota 86 and bears a remarkable resemblance to TGR’s new WRC27 machine.
Rovanpera has acknowledged that he is already ‘old’ to be starting a single-seater career at 25 years of age. If he were to win the Japanese Super Formula Championship at his first attempt, as well as F3 and F2, and if he was to make it to F1, he would be 29 years old.
Of course, today is April 1st. Gotcha!
