The World Endurance Championship has confirmed its new schedule after being forced to cancel its opening Qatar events due to geopolitical issues.
The country was one of several Persian Gulf region countries targeted in response to the recent US-Israeli missile attacks on Iran.
As a consequence, the Lusail International Circuit’s hosting of the Prologue and opening race – the Qatar 1821km – was shelved.
The prologue will now take place on April 14 at Imola, followed by the 6 Hours of Imola on April 19.
WEC and the FIA have said that after “collaborative and constructive discussions with the Qatar Motor & Motorcycle Federation,” the Qatar 1821km will now take place on October 24.
