Fabio Quartararo has admitted he is in talks with Honda for a 2027 MotoGP move, but denied any speculation of a deal already being signed.
Motorsport reported last week that Quartararo had already penned a deal with Honda ahead of the 2027 rider market, amidst the Frenchman’s unhappiness at Yamaha.
The 2021 World Champion has not won a race in almost four years after Yamaha’s backslide in performance, although Quartararo has remained loyal to the Iwata-based factory.
Rival Japanese marque Honda has had its own struggles this decade, but returned to some form in 2025 after twice earning podiums on pure pace through Joan Mir.
Following the Sepang Shakedown test, Quartararo admitted to the media that Honda was “one of the teams” he had been in contract negotiations with.
However, the Frenchman also denied that any deal for 2027 had already been reached contrary to reports.
“Honda is one of the teams I’m talking to,” Quartararo said via Crash.net.
“I’ll take the time I need to make a decision with a view to 2027, but as of today, I don’t have anything signed.
“I have the right people around me.
“It’s a gamble for me, but also for everyone else. Everyone will try to convince you. People can say whatever they want; it’s not about money, it’s about winning again.”
Quartararo’s alleged deal with Honda is reported to be worth €15 million.
During Yamaha’s launch event last month, team boss Massimo Meregalli confirmed that the marque had not yet begun conversations with Quartararo about a renewal.
Quartararo signed a two-year contract in 2024, worth around €12m per year, with the Frenchman convinced to stay by the appointment of Technical Director Max Bartolini.
However, Quartararo was less-than-impressed with the initial versions of the Yamaha V4 he tested at the end of last year.
It is also reported that 2024 World Champion Jorge Martin could replace Quartararo should he leave Yamaha.
