Felipe Nasr topped a Porsche 1-2-3 in the first session of the Daytona Roar Before the 24, the pre-Daytona 24 Hours test weekend for the opening race of the 2026 IMSA Sportscar Championship season.
The Brazilian, in the #7 Porsche 963, set a 1:36.327 to go quickest, with the car completing 30 laps in total.
Nico Pino was second quickest in the customer #85 JDC Miller Porsche 963, just 4 thousandths off Nasr. Interestingly this car also completed the most laps in the session at 33; it is also not running the new Porsche aero upgrade to the car after gaining special IMSA dispensation to run the 2025-spec 963 this year.
Third was the other factory Porsche, the #6 machine, with Laurens Vanthoor over half a second off Nasr, completing 23 laps of Daytona International Speedway.
The two Wayne Taylor Racing Cadillacs were fourth and fifth, Louis Deletraz in the #40 ahead of Filipe Albuquerque in the #10. Sixth and seventh were the two BMWs, now run by top European team WRT, with Marco Wittmann in the #25 ahead of Rene Rast in the #24 machine.
Jack Aitken was seventh in the #31 Action Express Cadillac, with Renger van der Zande ninth in the first of the Acuras, the #93 car. 10th was the #23 Aston Martin THOR Valkyrie, while the other Acura, the #60, was 24th overall and last in class, only completing 7 laps.
Charles Milesi was quickest in LMP2, in the #11 TDS Racing Oreca. The Frenchman set a 1:38.935 to go fastest, just over two tenths faster than Pietro Fittipaldi in the #73 Pratt Miller Oreca.
Third in LMP2 was new McLaren Hypercar signing Mikkel Jensen in the #2 United Autosports Oreca, a further tenth off Fittipaldi.
The fastest GT car was the GTD-entered #44 Magnus Racing Aston Martin Vantage GT3 of Spencer Pumpelly, with a 1:47.304.
Dean MacDonald was next fastest over both GT classes, in the GTD Pro-entered #59 RLL McLaren 720S GT3. The Briton set a 1:47.766, almost half a second off Pumpelly.
Third across both classes was another GTD Pro-entered car, this time Andrea Caldarelli in the #9 Pfaff Lamborghini Huracan GT3, in Pfaff’s last IMSA race with the Huracan before switching to the new Temerario GT3, with the Italian just 0.024 off MacDonald.
Fourth was the GTD-entered #80 Lone Star Racing Mercedes-AMG GT3 of Scott Andrews, with Trent Hindman fifth in the GTD-entered #45 Wayne Taylor Racing Lamborghini Huracan GT3. Sixth, and third in GTD Pro if you’re keeping count, was Kenny Habul in the #75 75 Express Mercedes-AMG GT3.
