F1 World Champion Lando Norris has been offered an opportunity to ride a KTM MotoGP bike by former Haas Team Principal Guenther Steiner.
McLaren driver Norris secured his first F1 world title at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, after beating Red Bull’s Max Verstappen by just two points.
Norris is a well-documented admirer of MotoGP, citing Valentino Rossi as one of his motorsport idols and emulating the Italian’s iconic neon in his own branding.
Now, Steiner has touted the recently crowned F1 champion for a potential opportunity to ride a MotoGP bike.
Steiner led a consortium to takeover the satellite Tech3 KTM team in September, and will resume the role of CEO in 2026.
Speaking on The Red Flags podcast, Steiner revealed that Norris would be welcome to trial a KTM machine, dependent on clearance from McLaren CEO Zak Brown.
“He is welcome to ride our bike next year,” Steiner said.
“It has the same colour [as the McLaren], papaya… Ok, it’s orange, but they are very similar.
“He can come and ride it; we will find a way to arrange it.
“It would be something nice for him, although I don’t know if Zak Brown would be happy to see him ride a MotoGP bike.”
Liberty Media, who now own both series following its confirmed MotoGP takeover in July, would welcome a crossover between its respective series.
However, sponsorship issues could block Monster Energy athlete Norris from riding a KTM machine, with the Austrian manufacturer heavily backed by rival Red Bull.
Nonetheless, the American owners will be keen to emulate the ride swap between Rossi and Lewis Hamilton in Valencia back in 2019.
That day, seven-time F1 champion Hamilton rode a Yamaha M1 for the first time, while Rossi got behind the wheel of one of his Mercedes cars.
