Motocorsa has announced the signing of former Moto2 rider Alberto Surra, completing the 2026 WorldSBK grid.

Surra will make his WorldSBK debut in 2026 after penning a deal with the Motocorsa outfit, less than half a season after joining the Superbike paddock.

The Italian joined the Moto3 World Championship in 2021, where he competed through to the 2022 season.

From 2023 onward, he competed concurrently in the Moto2 European Championship and made wildcards in the equivalent World Championship.

Surra enjoyed considerable success in the Moto2 European Championship, finishing third in three consecutive seasons, with three wins and 14 podiums from 2023 to 2025.

The Italian now joins WorldSBK to make two successive rookies signed by Motocorsa, following its one-year partnership with Ryan Vickers.

Vickers parted ways with Motocorsa at the end of the 2025 WorldSBK season, with the team statement suggesting it elected not to take up the second-year option in the Brit’s 1+1 deal.

Instead, Surra has been awarded his WorldSBK debut, following half a season in the WorldSSP category as a replacement for Yamaha’s Aldi Mahendra.

“I’m very happy about this opportunity that I was given by team Motocorsa Racing and [team boss] Lorenzo Mauri,” said Surra.

“I come from a three years’ experience in Moto2 and some races in the Supersport World Championship, and I’m glad we get to take this big step with a team that will help me grow within this category.

“I’m sure we will achieve plenty of success and we will have a season of growth. I’m very very happy and I cannot wait to begin!”
