Toprak Razgatlioglu credits his treble race win weekend at Misano as the catalyst for securing his third WorldSBK title.
In the early stages of the season, BMW rider Razgatlioglu struggled at the season opener in Phillip Island and at the third round in Assen, but still managed to win four of the first nine races.
The tough start to the season came as BMW had to modify its fairing to comply with FIM regulations, allowing title rival Nicolo Bulega to build a significant lead in the standings.
After signing his 2026 MotoGP contract, Razgatlioglu refocused on the season, claiming two wins and six podiums at Cremona and Most before embarking on a three-month, 13-race winning streak from Misano to Aragon.
“After we returned to Europe, especially after Assen, I was completely destroyed,” he admitted to WorldSBK.
“In the Tissot Superpole Race in the wet conditions, it was perfect, but in dry conditions the bike wasn’t working again; it completely destroyed the tyres.”
“After that, I just stopped thinking about the new rules and the new bike; I just focused on my job, and I started to see that the more I just focused on my job, the more I was finishing on the podium and winning races.
“Especially when I finished the signing with MotoGP, it helped me relax more. When I was riding, I started to enjoy it again, especially in Misano where I had a hat trick.
“That round was very important to me, Ducati is very strong there normally and all the bosses were coming there.
“I needed to beat Ducati there; I was thinking that if I could beat them there, it would break them a little bit.
“The plan worked, I won the races in Misano and then went on to win many races.”
Throughout 2025, the 29-year-old set personal bests, recording a career-high 21 wins and amassing 616 points over the 12-round season.
Now, the Alanya-born rider heads to MotoGP as a three-time WorldSBK champion, a feat achieved only by legendary riders Troy Bayliss, Carl Fogarty, and Jonathan Rea.
