Luca Marini sets the pace in first Indonesia MotoGP practice

Luca Marini topped the timesheets for Honda by setting the fastest lap in the first practice session of the Indonesia MotoGP race weekend.

The Italian posted a time of 1.30.809s in the closing moments, further displaying Honda’s competitiveness this season.

Pedro Acosta and Marco Bezzecchi sealed second and third for KTM and Aprilia, respectively.

Yamaha’s Alex Rins claimed fourth ahead of newly crowned champion Marc Marquez, meaning each manufacturer was represented in the top five of the first practice session.

Jack Miller and Fabio Quartararo showed Yamaha’s speed to take sixth and seventh, respectively.

Fabio Di Giannantonio finished eighth for VR46 Ducati, followed by Honda’s Joan Mir, as Gresini’s Alex Marquez rounded off the top ten.

Raul Fernandez sealed 11th for Trackhouse, with Franco Morbidelli, Johann Zarco and Brad Binder edged out by a tenth of a second.

Maverick Vinales ended the session in 15th for Tech3, but rookie Fermin Aldeguer and Motegi grand prix winner Francesco Bagnaia could only muster 16th and 17th for Ducati.

Enea Bastianini and Tech3 finished in 18th, with Miguel Oliveira and Somkiat Chantra closing out proceedings.
