After setting the fastest lap in qualifying at the hands of Tom Blomqvist, the #60 Acura Meyer Shank Racing prototype was found to be in violation of IMSA’s rules.
The infraction disqualified the entry’s times in qualifying, which promoted the #31 Cadillac Whelen prototype to pole.
Following qualifying, the series’ inspection process uncovered bodywork panels that were outside the allowable tolerances.
Details about which area of the car was prepared improperly were not immediately shared.
“In post-qualifying technical inspection, it was discovered that the #60 car failed to comply within LMDh bodywork tolerances,” read IMSA’s announcement.
Jack Aitken’s qualifying time of 1:14.610 becomes the new pole time, and Cadillac will start on pole for Sunday’s Battle on the Bricks.
It is the first pole for Cadillac this season, with BMW and Acura collectively taking all seven previous poles in 2025.
With the disqualification, Cadillac prototypes will fill the first three positions on the grid, giving the American brand full representation at the head of the field.
The manufacturer now has what is likely its best chance yet to earn its first win of the season.
The #60 Acura falls down to the bottom of the GTP starting grid, and will roll away from 12th.
The six-hour Battle on the Bricks takes place Sunday, with the green flag flying at 11:40 Eastern Time amid a forecast calling for scattered rain showers all day.
