Ogier leads as Rovanperä falls back in Paraguay
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

Sebastian Ogier and Vincent Landais led Rally del Paraguay after teammates and title rivals Kalle Rovanperä and Jonne Halttunen suffered a puncture in stage 14, dropping 2 min 38 seconds and plummeting to sixth overall.

Ogier was in a fighting mood as he won four stages, including three on the bounce as he chased the lead and fended off yesterday’s hero Adrien Fourmaux and Alex Coria’s Hyundai.

The day started with Rovanperä leading Ott Tanak and Martin Jarveoja, with Fourmaux in third and Ogier holding fourth.

In the day’s second stage, Tanak had a puncture which dropped him to sixth overall but he fought back over the remaining stages to close to within 2.5 seconds of Elfyn Evans and Scott Martin, who hold a tenuous third place.

Tanak and Thierry Neuville are fourth and fifth respectively, followed by Rovanperä and Sami Pajari in seventh.

Josh McErlean damaged his Ford Puma on the opening stage after a heavy landing and retired for the day, while M-Sport teammate Gregoire Munster also retired with damage.

Robert Virves leads WRC2 by 6.5 seconds from Oliver Solberg who staged a dramatic recovery from tenth after his Friday mishap.
