Renger van der Zande has taken pole for the IMSA SIX Hours of the Glen, with the Dutchman setting a 1:31.558 in the #93 Acura Meyer Shank Racing ARX-06.

Second was Jack Aitken, 0.287 slower than van der Zande, while third was the sister Meyer Shank Acura, the #60 machine of Colin Braun.

The session began with the two BMWs, of Dries Vanthoor and Sheldon van der Linde, setting the initial representative laps. The South African, in the #25 car, was quicker than D. Vanthoor by just over a tenth, with the following lap being slightly faster still.

However, Louis Deletraz, in the #40 Wayne Taylor Racing Cadillac V-Series.R, was able to set a 1:33.027 to go quickest.

The Swiss driver wasn’t top for long, however. Braun, in the #60 MSR Acura, then set a lap almost half a second faster than Deletraz.

Van der Zande, though, hadn’t had his say. The Dutchman came through to set a 1:31.558 to take pole, at the time almost a second faster than teammate Braun.

Braun did improve to be just over six tenths slower, but Jack Aitken, in the #31 Action Express Cadillac slotted in between the two Acuras. The Briton set a 1:31.845, 0.287 off van der Zande, to go second.

With Braun third, another Cadillac, the #40 WTR car, took fourth. In fifth was the sister Wayne Taylor Cadillacm while sixth and seventh went to Dries Vanthoor and Sheldon van der Linde in the two BMWs. The fastest Porsche, the #6 of Mathieu Jaminet, was only able to take eighth, 1.765 off van der Zande.

Hyett claims pole in LMP2

In LMP2, PJ Hyett took pole in the #99 AO Racing Oreca 07-Gibson, setting a 1:35.878. Steven Thomas claimed second in the #11 TDS Racing Oreca, 0.173 off Hyett, with Daniel Goldburg third in the #22 United Autosports Oreca.

The session began with George Kurtz setting a 1:41.457 to initially go quickest in the #04 Crowdstrike by APR Oreca. However, the lap times would come down by almost five seconds as the fuel burned off and tyres came into the window.

Chris Cumming took the top spot off Clarke in the #73 Pratt Miller Oreca, but he wasn’t fastest for long. Jeremy Clarke then came through in the #43 Inter Europol Oreca car, with Goldburg second and Nick Boulle, in the suster #2 United Autosports car, third.

Goldberg then went top, with a 1:36.808. At the half way mark, Hyett set his initial fastest lap, a 1:36.166, to go quickest. He’d remain quickest for the rest of the session, setting his pole lap on the second to last lap.

Thomas claimed second, with a 1:36.051. Third was Daniel Goldburg,  over eight tenths off Hyett.

Boulle in the sister United Autosports car was fourth, followed by Tobi Lutke in the #18 Era Motorsport Oreca in fifth.
