Pfaff Motorsports‘ Andrea Caldarelli put the #9 Lamborghini Huracan GT3 EVO2 on GTD Pro pole position for the IMSA’s Six Hours of the Glen.
The plaid-liveried Lamborghini claimed the top honours in the GTD Pro class qualifying session as Zach Robichon took pole in the GTD session for Heart of Racing.
Caldarelli’s 1:44.595 outright fastest lap time around Watkins Glen International was 0.142 seconds ahead of the #48 Paul Miller Racing BMW M4 GT3 Evo driver, Dan Harper (1:44.737).
Corvette’s #4 Z06 GT3.R took third in the GTD Pro category after Nicky Catsburg’s 1:45.296 lap time, situated ahead of Alberto Costa’s #81 Dragonspeed Ferrari 296 GT3, which set a 1:45.326.
Aaron Telitz took fifth position in the #14 Vasser Sullivan Lexus RC F GT3 (1:45.450), followed by Alex Sims in the #4 Corvette (1:45.490) and Mike Rockenfeller’s #64 Multimatic-run Ford Mustang GT3 (1:45.517).
Madison Snow took eighth position for the #1 Paul Miller BMW (1:45.532) as Klaus Bachler’s #77 AO Racing ‘Rexy’ Porsche 911 GT3.R was ninth (1:45.572) and Christopher Mies in 10th for the #65 Ford (1:45.6460).
Heart of Racing on pole in GTD
Zach Robichon grasped pole position in the GTD category with a lap time of 1:44.788 in the #27 Heart of Racing Aston Martin Vantage AMR GT3 Evo.
Alex Udell followed in second position at the wheel of the #36 DXDT Corvette ZO6 GT3.R with a 1:44.999 lap time, ahead of Daniel Morad’s #32 Korthoff Mercedes-AMG, which set a 1:45.212.
Russell Ward took fourth position in his #57 Winward Racing Mercedes-AMG (1:45.236), followed by #12 Vasser Sullivan Lexus driver Parker Thompson, who could have taken pole position before encountering traffic at the final corner; he did not back out of the lap itself, but the close margins meant that even a brief moment with one car can hamper a strong qualifying lap.
Thompson’s 1:45.443 lap time situated him ahead of Lorenzo Patrese’s #47 Cetilar Racing Ferrari 296 GT3 (1:45.696).
He fronted a trio of Ferraris with Triarsi Competizione’s #21 AF Corse Ferrari of Alessandro Pier Guidi behind in seventh place (1:45.779), then Onofrio Triarsi’s #023 Ferrari in eighth place (1:45.882).
The #78 Forte Racing Lamborghini claimed ninth, owed to Misha Goikhberg’s 1:45.906 lap time, and Anthony McIntosh rounded out the top 10 in the #19 van der Steur Racing Aston Martin (1:46.013).
Turner Motorsport qualifies outside top 10
Patrick Gallagher took 11th in the #96 Turner Motorsport BMW (1:46.213) with #70 Inception Racing Ferrari driver Brendon Iribe in 12th from a 1:46.529.
John Potter and his #44 Magnus Racing Aston Martin claimed 13th (1:46.548) as Conquest Racing’s #34 Ferrari, driven by Manny Franco, was 14th (1:46.779).
AJ Muss was 15th in the #021 Triarsi Ferrari (1:47.416), followed by Adam Adelson’s 1.47.465 in the #120 Wright Motorsports Porsche.
Till Bechtolsheimer earned 17th in the #66 Gradient Racing Ford (1:47.690). Graham Doyle took 18th in the #45 Wayne Taylor Racing Lamborghini (1:48.128)
Oray Fidani was 19th in the #13 AWA Corvette (1:48.611), and Dan Knox’s #80 Lone Star Racing Mercedes-AMG rounded out the 20-car GTD class field(1:49.332).
