Acosta and Brad Binder impressed to secure second and third place for KTM, while Ducati’s Marc Márquez took fourth, with all four riders separated by less than a tenth of a second.

Fabio Di Giannantonio promoted himself up to fifth on the VR46 Ducati, and once again Fabio Quartararo finished the session as the lead Yamaha rider.

Franco Morbidelli could only finish the session in 14th, but posted a better lap than Trackhouse’s Ai Ogura on his return after a spell on the sidelines.

Enea Bastianini finished a second behind his KTM colleagues down in 16th, finishing ahead of Honda stand in and test rider Takaaki Nakagami.

Fermin Aldeguer finished a surprise 18th, but lapped faster than Trackhouse’s Raul Fernandez and Honda’s Joan Mir.
