Honda has confirmed that its test rider Aleix Espargaro will receive a wildcard entry to compete in the upcoming MotoGP round at Silverstone.

The 35-year-old joined the Japanese marque at the start of the season after transitioning from full-time racing to a testing role.

After completing a first wildcard outing at Jerez, Espargaro will make a return at Silverstone, the track where he claimed victory in 2023.

Espargaro’s challenge of restoring Honda’s competitiveness comes after LCR rider Johann Zarco’s success at his home race at Le Mans.

Fellow Honda test rider Takakki Nakagami ventured around the French streets and secured an impressive sixth place too.

Silverstone marks the third consecutive race in which Honda utilises its test riders as part of the concession rulings.
