Phil Hanson will join the privateer-funded #83 AF Corse Ferrari 499P LMH for the 2025 FIA World Endurance Championship season.

The 2019-20 WEC LMP2 champion and (2020) Le Mans 24 Hours class-winner will replace Robert Shwartzman for next year.

Hanson, like Shwartzman, made his Hypercar class debut during the 2024 season with JOTA.

AF Corse’s yellow Ferrari won the Lone Star Le Mans in September at the Circuit of the Americas.

The #83 Ferrari team are set for their second WEC season campaign next year, and Hanson for his sixth.

In a statement, AF Corse stated: “On Sunday November the 3rd, in the aftermath of the Bahrain 8 Hours,” in reference to the Rookie Test.

“… Hanson will make his debut behind the wheel of the number 83 Ferrari 499P fielded by AF Corse.”

The British driver will conclude his 2024 season in the #38 Porsche 963 with teammates Jenson Button and Oliver Rasmussen.

He was also JDC Miller MotorSport’s Endurance Cup driver in the IMSA Sportscar Championship which ended their season on 12 October.

Together, they claimed their best race result (P6) at the previous 6 Hours of Fuji round on 15 September.

Hanson has claimed titles across LMP3 and LMP2 machinery in the ACO-run Asian and European Le Mans Series.

Yifei Ye will likely continue his drive though Robert Kubica has not yet been confirmed as a teammate.

The 25-year-old will race at last with JOTA this weekend as Shwartzman will do so for AF Corse.

The 8 Hours of Bahrain season finale on Saturday 2 November is also the final WEC race before JOTA becomes a factory team with Cadillac.
