Nicolo Bulega smashed the five-year-long lap record to record an impressive Superpole lap for the WorldSBK season finale in Jerez

Bulega configured an immensely strong lap of 1.37.596s, which made him the first rider to post in a Lap inside the 1.37s.

The Ducati rider needed to pull off an impressive display to try and overcome the 46-point deficit to Toprak Razgatlioglu in Race 1 later on.

The series leader will start in second place for BMW Motorrad, with the two championship protagonists occupying the best two spaces on the grid.

Alex Lowes recorded a crucial third place for Kawasaki in his battle with Danilo Petrucci for fourth in the final WorldSBK standings, with the Brit finishing above the Italian.

Iker Lecuona continued his impressive displays to finish fifth ahead of Yamaha’s lead rider Andrea Locatelli.

Honda’s Xavi Vierge finished in seventh, but due to him impeding Locatelli earlier in the session a subsequent penalty could be awarded for the Spaniard.

Michael van der Mark rounded off his qualifying in eighth place, ahead of Michael Ruben Rinadli who will be participating in his final WorldSBK race weekend.

The Bonovo BMW duo of Garrett Gerloff and Scott Redding finished tenth and 12th, respectively, with the pair sandwiching GoEleven’s Andrea Iannone.

Dominique Aegerter finished 13th for GRT Yamaha ahead of the second factory Kawasaki rider of Axel Bassani.

Rounding off proceedings in 15th was Alvaro Bautista, who finished the Superpole a far distance away from his team-mate.
