It is confirmed that the Buddh International Circuit will return to the MotoGP calendar in 2026 due to “operational circumstances” delaying its initial 2025 slot.

The Indian Grand Prix was supposed to return to the calendar in 2025 but with no available dates towards the end of the season, MotoGP will place the Indian circuit as a reserve event.

MotoGP and InvestUP have stated that both organisations are “working hard to bring back MotoGP” to India with a “world-class event”.

MotoGP’s announcement states its commitment “to confirming India as a destination for global sporting events.”

A logistical nightmare for Dorna

India held its first MotoGP race in 2023, where Jorge Martin won the Sprint and Marco Bezzecchi won the Grand Prix.

It has contributed to the continued growth of MotoGP and two-wheeled racing in Asia, where in recent years the product also hosted races in Indonesia and Thailand.

For the 2024 season, the Buddh circuit was set to host a race weekend, but its September slot was cancelled due to weather.

Dorna and Fairstreet Sports postponed the event to the 2025 season, and two months after this announcement, Dorna parted ways with promoter Fairstreet in favour of Invest UP.

Invest UP is an investment agency of the government of Uttar Pradesh, which agreed to a three-year deal with Dorna until 2027.

The 2025 MotoGP calendar is expected to be entirely revealed in the coming days, following these last-minute changes to the schedule.
