In the latest Balance of Performance figures for the FIA World Endurance Championship’s Lone Star Le Mans, Toyota has gained weight and lost power following their dominant Sao Paulo performance.

Ahead of the sixth round of 2024, the Hypercar BoP figures reveal a hit for Toyota GAZOO Racing in order to tame back their performance following the #8 GR010 Hybrid’s commanding form at the previous six-hour race in Brazil.

The reigning Hypercar manufacturers champions finished first with a 1:08.811 gap over the second-placed #6 Porsche Penske 963 entry.

Whilst the #7 finished in fourth position, the two Porsche Penske entries sandwiched in between the pair.

Elsewhere in the BoP, Peugeot Sport has received a 14 kg weight-break for their 9X8 Le Mans Hypercar as well as Lamborghini Iron Lynx’s SC63 LMDh with a 9 kg reduction.

As well as the weight increase, Toyota has been tamed back in their power output with a 9kW reduction, or 12 metric horsepower, but will be set to gain more horsepower at 250 km/h and above, which will be noticeable on the Circuit of the America’s back-straight.

Lamborghini are the only make with a total power output increase, albeit by 1 kW.

Given Isotta Fraschini’s recent announcement which concluded their Hypercar program, the entry list is at 36 cars across the Hypercar and LMGT3 categories.

The Lone Star Le Mans will take place this weekend at the venue situated near the city of Austin in Texas, USA, with the race set to kick off on Sunday 1 September.
