Snow claims IMSA pole for Paul Miller BMW at VIR

#1: Paul Miller Racing, BMW M4 GT3, GTD PRO: Bryan Sellers, Madison Snow

Madison Snow took pole at VIRginia International Raceway for the IMSA Sportscar Championship’s GT-only race, with the Paul Miller BMW driver setting a 1:43.206 to go quickest.

Snow set his time midway through the session as the hot track meant drivers could only realistically set a few laps in the 15 minute session, before their tyres overheated.

When he set his lap, he was well over half a second quicker than his rivals, but Corvette’s Antonio Garcia later set a lap to put him second, 0.140 off Snow, putting the Spaniard second in the #3 Corvette Z06 GT3.R.

Third was Harry Tincknell, almost three tenths off Garcia, in the #64 Ford Mustang GT3. The Briton was there or thereabouts throughout the session, but couldn’t find the final four and a bit tenths he needed to take pole or start on the front row.

Fourth was Tincknell’s Ford teammate, Joey Hand, in the sister #65 Ford, while fifth went to Tommy Milner in the sister #4 Corvette.

#55: Proton Competition, Ford Mustang GT3, GTD: Giammarco Levorato, Corey Lewis

In the GTD class, Gianmarco Levorato took pole, sixth overall, in the #55 Proton Competition Ford Mustang GT3, the first pole for the new Mustang in IMSA competition. The Italian set a 1:43.900 to take pole, with his lap coming fairly late on in the session.

Kenton Koch was next up in the #32 Korthoff/Preston Mercedes AMG GT3, just over two tenths off Levorato. Practice 3’s fastest overall driver, Elliott Skeer, was third fastest in the #120 Wright Motorsport Porsche 911 GT3R, just 0.012 off Koch.

Fourth and fifth in GTD went to Zacharie Robichon in the #27 Heart of Racing Aston Martin Vantage GT3 Evo, and Patrick Gallagher in the #96 Turner Motorsport BMW M4 GT3.
