Jorge Martin snatches pole position from Francesco Bagnaia’s grasp and will start from the front of the grid for both the Austrian MotoGP Sprint and Grand Prix.

Martin formulated an unbeatable 1.27.748s lap time, with championship protagonist Bagnaia only able to finish 0.141s adrift.

With the GP24 rider Ducati duo again showing their unmatched ability aboard the Bologna marque, as Marc Marquez finished the nearest challenger aboard his GP23, half a second adrift off pole position.

Aprilia’s Aleix Espargaro completed a strong lap time to finish fourth, with Jack Miller delivering his best qualifying performance of the season with KTM in fifth place.

Maverick Vinales sealed sixth place, ahead of the GP24 duo of Enea Bastianini and Franco Morbidelli.

VR46 Ducati’s Marco Bezzecchi rounded off his session with a ninth-placed qualification, with KTM wildcard and test rider Pol Espargaro slotting his Austrian bike in the tenth spot.

Alex Marquez finished his session in 11th, a half-second gap between himself and his brother Marc Marquez in third, which displayed the close competition around the Austrian streets.

Brad Binder rounded off his qualifying in 12th, with the South African struggling to formulate a vital lap time with KTM this weekend thus far.

Miguel Oliveira set the same time as Espargaro in Q1 but missed out on making it to Q2 due to setting it at a later time, meaning he starts in 13th place for both races.

Pedro Acosta left it too late to formulate his best lap time, with the rookie narrowly missing out on Q2 but under a tenth of a second.

Yamaha’s Fabio Quartararo finished 15th and within half a second of a Q2 spot, with Yamaha making a small step up this weekend, ahead of the second GasGas rider of Augusto Fernandez.

Johann Zarco secured 17th spot as the lead Honda rider, ahead of the Repsol Honda duo of Luca Marini and Joan Mir.

Raul Fernandez and Alex Rins struggled aboard the Aprilia and Yamaha, respectively, finishing nearly half a second adrift of their respective team-mates.

LCR Honda’s Takaaki Nakagami finished as the final full-time rider on the grid with a 22nd place qualification, with stablemate and test rider Stefan Bradl following, while Aprilia test rider Lorenzo Savadori finished dead last in the classification.
