Cadillac Racing’s #2 Cadillac V-Series.R has been disqualified from the FIA World Endurance Championship’s Qatar 1812km, held earlier this month, after it was found that some of the car’s bodywork broke the technical regulations.

In particular, the car’s diffuser strakes were higher in the Z and misaligned in the Y axis, further than the allowed tolerances. This meant the car was not technically homologated for the race, and has been disqualified by the stewards.

The diffuser strakes are the responsibility of Dallara, who build the chassis that the car is based on. Cadillac confirmed during a hearing that Dallara had not carried out sufficient quality control on the parts. While the stewards did say they didn’t believe this was intentional by Cadillac or Dallara, the end result is a violation of the technical regulations, and so have been disqualified.

In a statement to MotorsportWeek.com, Cadillac said: “During the FIA World Endurance Championship race in Qatar on March 2, the rear diffuser strakes on the No. 2 Cadillac V-Series.R were unintentionally out of specification relative to the homologated height. We have cooperated with the FIA and ACO and accept their findings.”
