Jr III Racing have announced they will expand their LMP3 effort in the IMSA WeatherTech Sports Championship to two cars, beginning at the upcoming Road America round, with drivers Bijoy Garg and Linus Lundqvist on 6 August.

A #29 Ligier JS P320 will join the team’s other #30 Ligier entry for the 2 hour and 40 minute race at the Road America venue next week.

It will mark a step up for Garg who began in January with competing in the #3 Ligier JS P320 VP Sportscar Challenge entry, as part of IMSA’s support package series, at Daytona.

During Garg’s campaign thus far, he claimed four pole positions across each event and a third place finish on debut.

This was followed by two wins at the Sebring races, two second-place finishes at the Canadian Tire Motorsports Park, and two most recently at Lime Rock Park.

“I’m excited to make the move to WeatherTech racing,” said Garg.

“I feel pretty ready to be honest.

“I believe the time I had in both VP (Racing SportsCar Challenge) and Asian Le Mans Series (LMP3 with RLR MSport) really helped me prepare for the step up, but every field is different so you can’t really predict how it will go.

“I’m really looking forward to working with Linus and I think we will make a strong partnership.”

Lundqvist builds on his championship-winning 2022 Indy NXT season where he secured five wins, nine podiums and seven pole positions. His debut 2021 efforts were strong as he finished third in the championship.

The 24-year-old Swede has two IMSA WeatherTech starts to his name, one from competing in a GTD Lamborghini Huracan GT3 Evo in 2019, and a second Daytona start earlier this year in a Mercedes-AMG GT3 Evo run by Alegra Motorsports.

The IMSA SportsCar Weekend at Road America will commence on 6 August from 11 am ET.
