TF Sport will run two Corvette Z06 GT3.R’s in next year’s FIA World Endurance Championship, in the brand new LMGT3 class, the team has announced.

The British team currently races Aston Martin Vantage AMRs in the championships, which it has raced exclusively in the championship since it first entered in the 2018-2019 season.

The Z06 GT3.R, meanwhile, was unveiled at Daytona this year and heralds a new era for Corvette in GT racing, as it embarks on supporting a global customer programme and the end of the factory ‘Corvette Racing’ operation.

The TF Sport programme will run two cars in the class. This ensures that the team will be only one running Corvettes in the class, in line with WEC’s stipulation of manufacturers being limited to two cars each.

While the TF Sport Corvette operation is not confirmed to have been formally granted an entry next year — the entry process opens in October and closes in December — both entities are hopeful of being accepted, thanks to Corvette’s parent company General Motors’ Cadillac Hypercar programme and TF Sport’s long-time entry into the championship.

“We are excited to welcome TF Sport to the Corvette Racing family,” said Christie Bagne, Corvette Z06 GT3.R Program Manager.

“Tom Ferrier and his organization showcase the elements we were looking for in a team to run our Corvette Z06 GT3.R in the FIA WEC – a first-class operation, strong collaboration and a history of success.

“We look forward to working with Tom and his team to make the Z06 GT3.R a success in the WEC and at the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 2024 and beyond.”

TF Sport director Tom Ferrier said: “I am thrilled to have the opportunity to represent such an iconic brand on the world stage.

Corvette Racing has an immense history at Le Mans and we will be looking to continue that run of success. I’d like to thank everyone at Aston Martin Racing for the support and success we have had over the past six years and seven Le Mans but now I feel the time is right for a new challenge in the WEC.

“We still have a job to do in this year’s WEC now lying second in the championship and will give it our all to finish on a high.”
