Albuquerque tops opening 12 Hours of Sebring practice

Filipe Albuquerque topped the opening practice session for the IMSA WeatherTech Sportscar Championship’s 12 Hours of Sebring, with the #10 Wayne Taylor Racing Acura ARX-06 driver setting 1:48.303.

The #01 Cadillac V.Series-R of Ranger van der Zande was next, just over a tenth off Albuquerque. Third in the GTP class was Jack Aitken in the other Cadillac, the #31 Action Express Cadillac V.Series-R, 0.098 off van der Zande.

In LMP2, Christian Rasmussen was fastest, lapping the track in 1:50.926 in the #18 Era Motorsport Oreca 07-Gibson. Second in class was Giedo van der Garde in the #35 TDS Oreca 07-Gibson, two tenths off  Albuquerque. George Kurtz was third, just 0.016 slower than #04 Crowdstrike Racing by APR Oreca 07-Gibson.

Dakota Dickerson led LMP3, behind the wheel of the #30 Jr III Racing Ligier JS P320, setting a 1:56.349. Second in LMP3 was Felipe Fraga in the #74 Riley Ligier JS P320, while Gabby Chaves was third #36 Andretti Autosport Ligier JS P320.

Trent Hindman was fastest in GTD in the #77 Wright Motorsports Porsche 911 GT3-R, with the American setting a 2:01.092. Leading GTD Pro, and second overall across both GT classes, was Jack Hawksworth in the #14 Vasser Sullivan Lexus RC F GT3, with a 2:01.156.

Second and third in GTD were Kyle Marcelli, in the #93 Racers Edge Acura NSX GT3, and Parker Thompson in the other Lexus, the #12 Vasser Sullivan Lexus RC F GT3. 

Second in GTD Pro, fourth in GT overall, meanwhile, was Daniel Serra in the #62 Rise Competizione Ferrari 296 GT3, while Ross Gunn was third, ninth in GT, in the #23 Heart of Racing Aston Martin Vantage GT3.
