Blomqvist tops times in second Acura 1-2 for Daytona Roar practice

#60: Meyer Shank Racing W/Curb-Agajanian, Acura ARX-06, GTP: Colin Braun, Tom Blomqvist, Helio Castroneves, Simon Pagenaud

For the third straight session, the #60 Meyer Shank Acura ARX-06 has topped the times for the Daytona Roar Before the 24, this time with Tom Blomqvist setting a 1:35.363 to go quickest.

It was also the second consecutive Acura 1-2 in practice, with the #10 Wayne Taylor Acura ARX-06 second, with Louis Deletraz setting the car’s quickest lap, 0.130 slower than Blomqvist.

Nick Tandy followed in the first of the Porsche 963s, the #6 driver just five thousandths of a second off Deletraz. Teammate Felipe Nasr followed in the sister #7 Porsche 963, just over a tenth slower than Tandy.

A trio of Cadillac V-LMDhs were fifth, sixth and seventh, with Sebastien Bourdais in the #01 followed by Pipo Derani in the #31, then Alex Lynn in the #02. The BMWs were eighth and ninth, Connor de Phillippi followed by Augusto Farfus.

In LMP2, veteran Nico Lapierre was fastest for #52 PR1 Mathiasen Motorsports, setting a 1:38.877 in the Oreca 07-Gibson. 

Mikkel Jensen was second quickest in the #11 TDS Racing Oreca 07-Gibson, a tenth and a bit off Lapierre, while Nicklas Nielsen, who will soon be driving the Ferrari 499P Hypercar in the FIA World Endurance Championship, third for #88 AF Corse, also in an Oreca 07-Gibson.

Andretti Autosport’s Dakota Dickerson set the pace in LMP3, with the #36 Ligier JS P320 driver setting a 1:42.653. Matt Bell was second quickest in the #13 AWA Duqueine D08 car, but was over half a second off Dickerson’s rapid time. In third was Nico Pino in the #33 Sean Creech Motorsport Ligier JS P320.

GTD once again topped the GT times, usurpring GTD Pro, with Frederik Schandorff in the #70 Inception Racing McLaren 720S GT3 lapping the track in 1:46.842. A GTD class car was also second, Kenton Koch in the Korthoff Motorsports Mercedes AMG GT3 almost half a second off. The top GTD Pro car was the #64 TGM/TF Sport Aston Martin Vantage GT3, with a 1:47.359, driven by Owen Trinkler. 

Second in GTD Pro was another Aston, this time the #23 Heart of Racing Aston Martin Vantage GT3 off Ross Gunn, just a few hundredths off Trinkler.

Third in GTD was Spencer Pumpelly in the #44 Magnus Racing Aston Martin Vantage GT3, while third in GTD Pro was Le Mans overall winner Mike Conway, in the #14 Vasser Sullivan Lexus RC F GT3.

The fourth practice session takes place at 3:10pm local time.
