Eight-time World Champion Sebastien Ogier will be making his second appearance for Toyota in May as part of his part-time WRC campaign.

Toyota announced the news today that the Frenchman will be driving the third car that he shares in a part time programme with teammate Esapekka Lappi at the upcoming Rall Portugal on 19th-22nd May.

Ogier got his 2022 season to a flying start in the opening round in Monte Carlo finishing second to nine-time World Champion Sebastien Loeb. The two rivals produced a thrilling fight through the Monte Carlo hills with the final positions only being decided due to a late-stage puncture for Ogier. The battle will be resumed in Portugal as it has also been announced that Loeb is re-joining M-Sport for the rally as well, meaning the two drivers can put on another thrilling fight for the fans.

This will be the first gravel event for not only Ogier but most of the field driving the new for 2022 hybrid Rally1 cars. And should the rally be dry, the Toyota driver will have a favourable position in being 8th on the road on the first day. This will mean the stages will become progressively cleaner and faster with the passage of every car as sand and gravel are cleared from the surface.
