Honda unveils 2022 MotoGP paint scheme

Honda’s factory operation presented the livery that will adorn its all-new RC213-V in the 2022 MotoGP world championship in an online launch on Tuesday morning.

Race riders Marc Marquez and Pol Espargaro were on hand to unleash Honda’s war colours for the upcoming campaign, the duo uncovering a paint scheme pretty much like-for-like relative to 2021 but with an updated fairing, particularly at the front with a taller and narrower air intake compared to the previous evolution of the machine.

The colours of long-time title sponsor Repsol continue to make up the bulk of the livery, the Spanish oil and lubricant companies’ orange, red and white ever present as it has been for the last three decades.

The new bike features an updated engine that will afford its pilots smoother and more usable power delivery, a key area of improvement needed following several years where only six-time premier class champion could consistently get the most from the RC213-V.

Marquez- who makes his competition return after missing the final two races of 2021 after suffering an eye diplopia- was bullish about his chances in 2022, the Spaniard outlining that he intends to “fight for the championship” following two years plagued by injury.

“My goal this year is to fight for the championship, last year of course was a very special situation and even this year the winter was crucial but luckily the doctors and everybody else helped me to arrive ready for the first test,” explained Marquez.

“It was a big surprise because you know it was a critical situation with double vision and nobody knew what was going to happen, but I followed the advice of the doctors and everything has gone perfectly.

“From that point the goal will be to work hard in the pre-season and then fight for the title.”
