CORE Autosport LMP3 returns for 2022 campaign
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

CORE Autosport will field an entry in the IMSA WeatherTech Sportscar Championship’s LMP3 class for the second season in a row.

Jon Bennett and Colin Braun will return to team up for the full season aboard the #38 Ligier JS P320. George Kurtz will rejoin the team at the Endurance Cup events, while Nic Jönsson completes the squad at Daytona.

Bennett and Braun are one of the longest-running and most successful pairings in IMSA today. The duo’s history dates back to the American Le Mans Series in 2012 and have seen them compete and win races in both GT and prototype competition. They have scored 17 race wins together.

“I am extremely pleased with our 2022 driver lineup,” Bennett said. “Obviously, Colin and I have a longstanding relatonship and his talent is off the charts.

“I really enjoyed with George last year and he clearly has the pace to help us win races. He’s fit in well with the team and I think we can get some more IMSA wins on his score card.”

“Having Nic back to complete our Daytona lineup is outstanding because he knows CORE and he’ll hit the ground running with us.”

Kurtz, CEO of cybersecurity firm CrowdStrike which also partners the Mercedes-AMG F1 team, joined the team for the first time last year. He has also competed in the GT World Challenge America.

Jönsson, meanwhile, is a vastly experienced racer that last raced with CORE Autosport in 2017. He’s also raced in IndyCar, the FIA World Endurance Championship, European Le Mans Series and competed in the 24 Hours of Le Mans thirteen times.
