Performance Tech Motorsports will go into the 2022 IMSA WeatherTech Sportscar Championship with an almost completely new LMP3 driver line-up.

The Florida-based squad will once again field the red and black #38 Ligier JS P320 after finishing fourth in the LMP3 team standings in 2021.

Dan Goldburg is the sole driver to have been retained for the 2022 campaign, which kicks off with the Rolex 24 at Daytona in January. Goldburg will be joined by Garett Grist, Hikaru Abe and Nico Pino.

“This is a really great group of guys,” team principal Brent O’Neill said. “This team knows what it takes to win a Rolex 24 and with such strong drivers, I think we have a really strong shot at a run for the top step this year.

“We’ve tested all of these drivers and I’m really impressed by what they bring to the table, I’m eager to get them all together for the Roar to see what we can get out of our Ligier.”

Canadian driver Grist is the only other member of the line-up that has previous IMSA experience. In 2021, he raced with DragonSpeed at Daytona and later joined JR III Racing at Petit Le Mans. Additionally, he has raced with Nielsen Racing in the European Le Mans Series, Asian Le Mans Series and the 24 Hours of Le Mans.

“I’m really looking forward to joining Performance Tech for the 2022 24 Hours of Daytona,” Grist said. “They’re a team that has had a lot of success in IMSA over the years. Having done Le Mans and Daytona before hopefully, I can bring some of the things I’ve learned to the team.

“I think we have a great lineup to compete for a win. I want to thank Brent, Dan, and Ligier for this opportunity.”

Pino and Abe will both be making their series debuts. Pino, 17-year-old and hailing from Chile, raced with Inter Europol Competition for two rounds of the European Le Mans Series.
