Kamui Kobayashi has set the fastest time in an incident-filled second free practice session for the Six Hours of Bahrain.

The Japanese driver posted a 01:49.063 in the #7 Toyota GR010 Hybrid, 0.030s quicker than team-mate Brendon Hartley in the #8 sister car.

Nicolas Lapierre was third in the #36 Alpine A480-Gibson, only slightly quicker than the quickest of the LMP2 runners, Tom Blomqvist’s #28 JOTA ORECA 07-Gibson.

The #8 Toyota was one of several cars to become involved in incidents throughout the session, which was stopped on three separate occasions.

With Sebastien Buemi behind the wheel, the Toyota made contact with the #85 Iron Lynx Ferrari 488 GTE Evo, driven by Sarah Bovy.

The two cars made contact at turn one, with Buemi limping back to the pits after the contact. The Toyota suffered front end bodywork damage as well as possible suspension damage.

The session was stopped on two more occasions, once for debris on track and once for the #70 Realteam Racing ORECA 07-Gibson, which came to a halt on track with Norman Nato at the wheel.

Kevin Estre led a Porsche one-two in GTE Pro in the #92 Porsche 911 RSR-19 with a best time of 01:56:411, with James Calado the best-placed Ferrari in third. The #51 AF Corse 488 GTE Evo was nearly three seconds off the pace.

Ferrari is struggling to match Porsche after an unexpected Balance of Performance change has cost the Italian team an estimated 25 horsepower compared to previously.

Matteo Cairoli was quickest in the GTE Am class for Team Project 1 in the #56 Porsche 911 RSR-19.
