Albuquerque tops Friday practice at Laguna Seca

#10: Konica Minolta Acura ARX-05 Acura DPi, DPi: Ricky Taylor, Filipe Albuquerque

Filipe Albuquerque has set the fastest time in Friday practice for the IMSA WeatherTech Sportscar Championship round at Laguna Seca.

The Portuguese driver posted a 01:14:880 aboard the #10 Wayne Taylor Racing Acura ARX-05, 0.094s faster than the #31 Whelen Engineering Cadillac DPi-VR driven by Pipo Derani.

Harry Tincknell went third quickest in the #55 Mazda RT24-P, with Mustang Sampling’s Tristan Vautier and Chip Ganassi Racing’s Kevin Magnussen fourth and fifth respectively.

The DPi running order was completed by the #60 Meyer Shank Racing Acura, driven by Dane Cameron.

The four-car LMP2 field was led by the #52 PR1/Mathiasen Motorsports ORECA 07-Gibson of Mikkel Jensen, who set a best time of 01:16:115.

The Dane’s time was nearly a full second quicker than Ryan Dalziel in the #18 Era Motorsport ORECA, who was 0.881s behind.

Gabriel Aubry was third for Tower Motorsport, with WIN Autosport’s Tristan Nunez fourth.

In GTLM, Corvette Racing’s Nick Tandy led the way by just 0.027s over WeatherTech Racing’s Matt Campbell.

Tandy posted a 01:22:081 in the #4 Corvette C8.R ahead of Campbell’s #79 Porsche 911 RSR-19. Jordan Taylor was another tenth back in the #3 Corvette.

Finally, Bill Auberlen led the way in GTD in the #96 Turner Motorsports BMW M6 GT3, 0.475s faster than #9 Pfaff Motorsports Porsche 911 GT3 R.
