Wright Motorsports will start from pole position in the GTD category following a post-qualifying penalty for initial polesitters GRT Grasser Racing Team.

Tim Zimmermann had initially put the #19 Lamborghini Huracan GT3 Evo on pole in class, but post-qualifying checks revealed that the car had a wifi hotspot on board.

This is in violation of IMSA’s telemetry regulations for the GTD category and the Austrian squad was subsequently stripped of pole.

Instead, the #19 Porsche 911 GT3 R, which had qualified second in the hands of Jan Heylen, will start the twelve-hour enduro from pole position in class.

It is currently unclear what effect this decision will have on Grasser’s qualifying points, as Franck Perera set the third fastest time in the second session.
